By Allah's will they routed them; and DavidDawud slew GoliathJalut; and Allah gave him power and wisdom and taught him whatever (else) He willed. And did not Allah Check one set of people by means of another, the earth would indeed be full of mischief: But Allah is full of bounty to all the worlds.
We have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to NoahNuh and the Messengers after him: we sent inspiration to AbrahamIbrahim, Isma'il, IsaacIshaq, JacobYaqub and the Tribes, to JesusIsa, JobAyyub, JonahYunus, AaronHarun, and SolomonSulayman, and to DavidDawud We gave the Psalms.
Curses were pronounced on those among the Children of Israel who rejected Faith, by the tongue of DavidDawud and of JesusIsa the son of MaryMaryam: because they disobeyed and persisted in excesses.
We gave him IsaacIshaq and JacobYaqub: all (three) guided: and before him, We guided NoahNuh, and among his progeny, DavidDawud, SolomonSulayman, JobAyyub, JosephYusuf, MosesMusa, and AaronHarun: thus do We reward those who do good:
And it is your Lord that knoweth best all beings that are in the heavens and on earth: We did bestow on some prophets more (and other) gifts than on others: and We gave to DavidDawud (the gift of) the Psalms.
To SolomonSulayman We inspired the (right) understanding of the matter: to each (of them) We gave Judgment and Knowledge; it was Our power that made the hills and the birds celebrate Our praises, with DavidDawud: it was We Who did (all these things).
We gave (in the past) knowledge to DavidDawud and SolomonSulayman: And they both said: "Praise be to Allah, Who has favoured us above many of his servants who believe!"
And SolomonSulayman was DavidDawud's heir. He said: "O ye people! We have been taught the speech of birds, and on us has been bestowed (a little) of all things: this is indeed Grace manifest (from Allah.)"
We bestowed Grace aforetime on DavidDawud from ourselves: "O ye Mountains! Sing ye back the Praises of Allah with him! and ye birds (also)! And We made the iron soft for him;"-
They worked for him as he desired, (making) Arches, Images, Basons as large as Reservoirs, and (cooking) Cauldrons fixed (in their places): "Work ye, sons of DavidDawud, with thanks! but few of My servants are grateful!"
Have patience at what they say, and remember our servant DavidDawud, the man of strength: for he ever turned (to Allah).
When they entered the presence of DavidDawud, and he was terrified of them, they said: "Fear not: we are two disputants, one of whom has wronged the other: Decide now between us with truth, and treat us not with injustice, but guide us to the even Path..."
(DavidDawud) said: "He has undoubtedly wronged thee in demanding thy (single) ewe to be added to his (flock of) ewes: truly many are the partners (in business) who wrong each other: Not so do those who believe and work deeds of righteousness, and how few are they?"...and DavidDawud gathered that We had tried him: he asked forgiveness of his Lord, fell down, bowing (in prostration), and turned (to Allah in repentance).

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) told me, "The most beloved prayer to Allah is that of David and the most beloved fasts to Allah are those of David. He used to sleep for half of the night and then pray for one third of the night and again sleep for its sixth part and used to fast on alternate days."
