Were ye witnesses when death appeared before JacobYaqub? Behold, he said to his sons: "What will ye worship after me?" They said: "We shall worship Thy god and the god of thy fathers, of AbrahamIbrahim, Isma'il and IsaacIshaq,- the one (True) Allah: To Him we bow (in Islam)."
And his wife was standing (there), and she laughed: But we gave her glad tidings of IsaacIshaq, and after him, of JacobYaqub.
"Thus will thy Lord choose thee and teach thee the interpretation of stories (and events) and perfect His favour to thee and to the posterity of JacobYaqub - even as He perfected it to thy fathers AbrahamIbrahim and IsaacIshaq aforetime! for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom."
And when they entered in the manner their father had enjoined, it did not profit them in the least against (the plan of) Allah: It was but a necessity of JacobYaqub's soul, which he discharged. For he was, by our instruction, full of knowledge (and experience): but most men know not.
"(One that) will (truly) represent me, and represent the posterity of JacobYaqub; and make him, O my Lord! one with whom Thou art well-pleased!"
