We have sent thee inspiration, as We sent it to NoahNuh and the Messengers after him: we sent inspiration to AbrahamIbrahim, Isma'il, IsaacIshaq, JacobYaqub and the Tribes, to JesusIsa, JobAyyub, JonahYunus, AaronHarun, and SolomonSulayman, and to DavidDawud We gave the Psalms.
We sent NoahNuh to his people. He said: "O my people! worship Allah! ye have no other god but Him. I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful day!"
"Do ye wonder that there hath come to you a message from your Lord through a man of your own people, to warn you? call in remembrance that He made you inheritors after the people of NoahNuh, and gave you a stature tall among the nations. Call in remembrance the benefits (ye have received) from Allah: that so ye may prosper."
Hath not the story reached them of those before them?- the People of NoahNuh, and 'Ad, and Thamud; the People of AbrahamIbrahim, the men of Midian, and the cities overthrown. To them came their messengers with clear signs. It is not Allah Who wrongs them, but they wrong their own souls.
Relate to them the story of NoahNuh. Behold! he said to his people: "O my people, if it be hard on your (mind) that I should stay (with you) and commemorate the signs of Allah,- yet I put my trust in Allah. Get ye then an agreement about your plan and among your partners, so your plan be on to you dark and dubious. Then pass your sentence on me, and give me no respite."
We sent NoahNuh to his people (with a mission): "I have come to you with a Clear Warning:"
It was revealed to NoahNuh: "None of thy people will believe except those who have believed already! So grieve no longer over their (evil) deeds."

"And O my people! let not my dissent (from you) cause you to sin, lest ye suffer a fate similar to that of the people of NoahNuh or of HudHud or of SalihSalih, nor are the people of Lut far off from you!"
Has not the story reached you, (O people!), of those who (went) before you? - of the people of NoahNuh, and 'Ad, and Thamud? - And of those who (came) after them? None knows them but Allah. To them came messengers with Clear (Signs); but they put their hands up to their mouths, and said: "We do deny (the mission) on which ye have been sent, and we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which ye invite us."

If they treat thy (mission) as false, so did the peoples before them (with their prophets),- the People of NoahNuh, and 'Ad and Thamud;

Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of NoahNuh, and 'Ad, and PharaohFiraun, the Lord of Stakes,
But (there were people) before them, who denied (the Signs),- the People of NoahNuh, and the Confederates (of Evil) after them; and every People plotted against their prophet, to seize him, and disputed by means of vanities, therewith to condemn the Truth; but it was I that seized them! and how (terrible) was My Requital!
