ʿAd

He hath only forbidden you dead meat, and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that on which any other name hath been invoked besides that of Allah. But if one is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- then is he guiltless. For Allah is Oft-Forgiving Most Merciful.

عَادٍ عدو

Say: "I find not in the message received by me by inspiration any (meat) forbidden to be eaten by one who wishes to eat it, unless it be dead meat, or blood poured forth, or the flesh of swine,- for it is an abomination - or, what is impious, (meat) on which a name has been invoked, other than Allah's". But (even so), if a person is forced by necessity, without wilful disobedience, nor transgressing due limits,- thy Lord is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

عَادٍ عدو

To the 'Ad people, (We sent) Hud, one of their (own) brethren: He said: "O my people! worship Allah! ye have no other god but Him will ye not fear (Allah)?"

عَادٍ عود

"And remember how He made you inheritors after the 'Ad people and gave you habitations in the land: ye build for yourselves palaces and castles in (open) plains, and carve out homes in the mountains; so bring to remembrance the benefits (ye have received) from Allah, and refrain from evil and mischief on the earth."

عَادٍ عود

Hath not the story reached them of those before them?- the People of Noah, and 'Ad, and Thamud; the People of Abraham, the men of Midian, and the cities overthrown. To them came their messengers with clear signs. It is not Allah Who wrongs them, but they wrong their own souls.

وَعَادٍ عود

To the 'Ad People (We sent) Hud, one of their own brethren. He said: "O my people! worship Allah! ye have no other god but Him. (Your other gods) ye do nothing but invent!"

عَادٍ عود

Such were the 'Ad People: they rejected the Signs of their Lord and Cherisher; disobeyed His messengers; And followed the command of every powerful, obstinate transgressor.

عَادٌ عود

And they were pursued by a Curse in this life,- and on the Day of Judgment. Ah! Behold! for the 'Ad rejected their Lord and Cherisher! Ah! Behold! removed (from sight) were 'Ad the people of Hud!

عَادًا عود

Has not the story reached you, (O people!), of those who (went) before you? - of the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Thamud? - And of those who (came) after them? None knows them but Allah. To them came messengers with Clear (Signs); but they put their hands up to their mouths, and said: "We do deny (the mission) on which ye have been sent, and we are really in suspicious (disquieting) doubt as to that to which ye invite us."

وَعَادٍ عود

عَادٍ عدو

If they treat thy (mission) as false, so did the peoples before them (with their prophets),- the People of Noah, and 'Ad and Thamud;

وَعَادٌ عود

But those whose desires exceed those limits are transgressors;-

ٱلْعَادُونَ عدو

As also 'Ad and Thamud, and the Companions of the Rass, and many a generation between them.

وَعَادًا عود

The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers.

عَادٌ عود

"And leave those whom Allah has created for you to be your mates? Nay, ye are a people transgressing (all limits)!"

عَادُونَ عدو

(Remember also) the 'Ad and the Thamud (people): clearly will appear to you from (the traces) of their buildings (their fate): the Evil One made their deeds alluring to them, and kept them back from the Path, though they were gifted with intelligence and skill.

وَعَادًا عود

Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Pharaoh, the Lord of Stakes,

وَعَادٌ عود

"Something like the fate of the People of Noah, the 'Ad, and the Thamud, and those who came after them: but Allah never wishes injustice to his Servants."

وَعَادٍ عود

But if they turn away, say thou: "I have warned you of a stunning Punishment (as of thunder and lightning) like that which (overtook) the 'Ad and the Thamud!"

عَادٍ عود

Now the 'Ad behaved arrogantly through the land, against (all) truth and reason, and said: "Who is superior to us in strength?" What! did they not see that Allah, Who created them, was superior to them in strength? But they continued to reject Our Signs!

عَادٌ عود

Mention (Hud) one of 'Ad's (own) brethren: Behold, he warned his people about the winding Sand-tracts: but there have been warners before him and after him: "Worship ye none other than Allah: Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Mighty Day."

عَادٍ عود

The 'Ad, Pharaoh, the brethren of Lut,

وَعَادٌ عود

And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind:

عَادٍ عود

And that it is He Who destroyed the (powerful) ancient 'Ad (people),

عَادًا عود

The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning?

عَادٌ عود

The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity!

وَعَادٌۢ عود

And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent;

عَادٌ عود

But those who trespass beyond this are transgressors;-

ٱلْعَادُونَ عدو

Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),-
